Just love this site pictures so sharp .love the one of the ship.im a Geordie also living in South Africa for the last 36 years originally from South Shields went to westoe boys and lived in whitleas left the Tyne in 1982 worked for reyrolles in Hebburn love this area .Also in photography .you captured some amazing areas of the north east.Grest memories I have and still do of this place nice one Mara.

I used to love the train ride from Hartlepool to Sunderland as it went across the cliff tops. There really are some beautiful views to be found there.

As you say, there is so much of the North East to surprise and delight and I don’t feel I’ve even scratched the surface yet. Keep up the good work, promoting your home turf! I’ll be up there again in September and have already pencilled in Hardwick Hall Country Park to visit 😊

In reply to Norm. Thank you Norm! Much appreciated :) I love the Northumberland coastline too, once stayed in a log cabin in the National Park and it was so peaceful. Will check out Newbiggin-by-the-sea though, not been there!

I love everything about Northumberland, the people, the scenery, the great places to eat and visit. The coast road from Blyth to Bamburgh has many hidden gems to explore. One favourite is Newbiggin-by-the-sea with Sean Henery’s strangely compelling sculpture of a couple gazing out to sea from a platform in the picturesque bay (although I accept it hasn’t received universal acclamation!) Great blog and I’ll definitely be visiting your secret five.
