I’ve been playing women’s rugby for three years now, which is wild when I think about it. I first started with the sport to try and kick me out of a bad place I was in, and it definitely did just that. Surprisingly though, I’ve stuck with it ever since and now can’t imagine it not being part of my life. In this post, I’m sharing some of my favourite women’s rugby Instagrams, for anyone considering getting involved.
It took me a long time to work up the motivation and the nerve to go along to my first rugby training session. Hopefully, if you’re in the same boat and are nervous about it too, some of these Instagrams will give you a boost!
Women’s rugby has come on in leaps and bounds in the last few years. With the creation of the Tyrell’s Premier 15’s competition in 2017/18, the professional side of the game has gone from strength to strength. Women’s rugby has never been more accessible, and if you’ve ever wanted to try something new, I can’t think of a better place to start.
Some of these accounts will also give you an idea of the diversity in women’s rugby; there’s a place on the team for women of all ages, shapes, sizes and skill levels. So don’t feel as though you’re not ‘sporty enough’ or ‘not fit enough’. Rugby is a team sport where everyone has a unique role, and it’s one of the most welcoming communities to become a part of.
So without further ado, let’s have a look at some of the best women’s rugby Instagrams for you to get motivated by!
Update: I’ve had to convert all these lovely visual Instagram posts into links because WordPress and Instagram don’t like each other anymore. Shame. Anyhow, although it doesn’t look that pretty anymore, you can just click the links to check out the recommendations.
