The October Blog Tag

The October Blog Tag

So after being nominated for a blogger recognition award the other week by Abbie, I’ve now been included in a tag post by the gorgeous Gee Gardner. I had no idea what a blog tag post actually was but I do love something new and so I’m jumping right in with some answers to these October themed questions.

Enjoy!

Name?

Ar.

What is your favourite colour?

Turquoise, purple or teal. Ooh, and also yellow, because it’s just sunny and happy. Mind you I love most colours so this isn’t really a great question for me.

What did you do today?

I created an art print for one of my customers at Rosarts, it was an illustrated poem for her best friend’s daughter. I’ve not worked on any prints for a while so it was a nice change to be using my artistic skills again. Then I worked on some of my blog stuff and also bought a webcam…which I can’t really afford right now but needs must as I’ve got a skype interview with someone this week!

Where are you currently?

I’m working in my home office, freezing because the heating doesn’t work that well this high up in the house.

What is your star sign?

Aquarius, the true individualist of the zodiac. Apparently we’re deep thinkers with a love of helping others, imaginative and intuitive. Oh, and we’re fairly attractive as well. Don’t take my word for it, I read it online somewhere.

Cake or Ice cream.

Cake. Definitely.

Frozen or Moana.

I’ve never seen either of them.

A night in or a night out.

Both but to be honest I would absolutely love a good night out, I haven’t had one in so long. Although it has to be said that I’m not the world’s greatest drinker, so there would be huge regret by the next morning!

Home cooked meal or takeaway.

Tough call. It’d depend on the takeaway really. I do love home cooked food but I’m pretty crap at it, so I relish a good Chinese takeaway every now and then, even if I am trying to stay fit and healthy. Everything in moderation.

Pineapple on pizza or no pineapple on pizza.

I honestly do not care remotely enough about this question to answer it – why is everyone arsed?!

Books or films.

Books! Although I do love a film adaptation….when they’re done right. However these days films seem to drag on for about fifteen hours so I can’t tolerate them like I used to. God I sound old. But there are some cult classic movies that I just adore and always will.

Autumn or spring.

Spring. I love it when things start to thaw and new life bursts out. I like autumn but I feel like the darkness and colder weather disagrees with my mood somewhat. Maybe I should look into getting one of these SAD lamps or lightboxes or whatever they’re called.

Flowers or chocolates.

Flowers. I like chocolates too though. But flowers.

Full fat or diet coke.

Neither, they’re both fucking rank. Sorry.

Phone or laptop

DESKTOP! (I’m a renegade)

What is your current favourite TV series?

I’ve just finished Killing Eve and it was so good! I even set up my own Villanelle board on Pinterest because I’m just that sad. Next on the list is this Haunting Of Hill house that everyone is banging on about, although I am such a wuss with horror and with my turbulent sleep history I’m not sure it’s such a wise idea – but we’ll see.

What is your favourite thing to do in October?

Survive it. I actually really dislike October, it has some pretty bad personal juju for me, so to make it through until the end without having an emotional meltdown is my main aim to be honest.

What is your current food to crave?

I think I’ll say blue cheese, although if I was being brutally honest it’d be KFC!

Do you have any piercings or tattoos?

I have my nose pierced and my ears pierced. No tattoos, they’re not for me really.

Are you an introvert or extrovert?

Both. See star sign question. In recent years I have leaned way into my introversion, and have had to work really hard to bring myself out of it. Although you might not guess this at all if you watch my Instagram stories. It’s true though, for the most part I am a reclusive soul. I despise answering the phone, won’t do it unless I absolutely have to.

What is your all time favourite Halloween film?

I’m not sure I have one – I’ll go with Beetlejuice.

Name your top 3 favourite artists/bands.

Ok no, that’s too hard. I’ll go for Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks, Lady Gaga and No Doubt. There’s no way you can have a top three though.

Have you got any plans for Halloween?

Possibly a Halloween party at the rugby club but more than likely not much!

Do you have any fears?

I have one or two pretty specific fears that if I think about for too long send me into and absolute panic, but otherwise I try my hardest wherever possible to push through the things that cause me to feel anxious or scared.

Do you believe in life after love?

I Alright Cher, calm your autotune.

Do you have any children? (or animals you treat as your babies).

I have one Small-Me.

What do you want for your future?

I want some financial stability for myself. Some security in my chosen field of work and mainly just a whole load of happiness. Oh, and five million pounds.

Be honest, why did you start blogging?

I have always wanted to write, and after a few years of writing for business purposes I realised I needed a space to work in that was more me. I was concerned about coming across like I was jumping on a bandwagon though, so was really hesitant to do it for a long time. Then I just stopped overthinking it and just decided to go against the grain and write whatever I wanted to. The niche mindset that comes along some areas of the bloging world was what had really put me off, so I decided to just not do that, and so far it’s working out well.

What is your biggest achievement so far?

It depends what you mean. Small-Me is my biggest achievement in terms of my contribution to the world, but on other levels I’ve made smaller achievements that I’m proud of. Like taking up a brand new sport at the age of 33, or being featured on ITV for my creative work with schoolchildren.

What are your ambitions with your blog?

I would love for it to be a success and just for it to provide me with some further opportunities to upskill my writing and create useful content. I always think about when I’m dead and gone (because I’m a creep like that), and how my digital footprint will probably be much larger than my physical one. So I want to leave a catalogue of useful, helpful and ultimately me-flavoured writing for my kids, grandkids and whoever else might care to read and remember me by.

If there is one thing you’d like to change about your blog what would it be?

My layout. I have recently compromised style for speed and it is bugging the ever-living shit out of me.

Have you achieved any blog goals you set out to do this year?

I don’t think I really set any, but considering I only actually launched my website just under a year ago, it’s maybe something to think about next month.

Where do you want to be in 10 years time?

I literally cannot think about that because it’ll mean I’ll be into my 40’s and holy shit I just can’t.

What is your dream holiday?

I’d absolutely love to go to Iceland or Sweden, or Canada. In fact, I’ve talked a bit about my travel wishlist before but maybe it’s time I did an ideal holiday post.

If you had an entire day to yourself what would you do?

I’d probably still just work all day because I’m really bad at looking after myself and I’m super hard on myself when I’m unproductive. I should probably sort that out really, it’s not good for anyone to be always on task.

Well, that was more fun than I expected! Thanks again to Gee for including me in the October blog tag. I’ll tag Abbie, Fern and Hammy to give this a whirl!

Writer, tweeter and illustrator. Starving artist and thrifting expert. Pen for hire and first-time author at work.

  1. Great questions in this tag! Sounds like you might need to get one of those portable plug-in heaters though so you don’t freeze! Yeah the pineapple question hardly seems like a big woop-woop to me either, not quite sure what all the fuss is about.
    🙂
