Omg... you are such a Godsend... Thankyou 🙏🏽for the intro, info and everything one needs to know about the CGM... so well explained even tho I feel a bit overwhelmed. Thankyou again.
I am 62 years old and always had naturally THICK curly hair. I played with irons a lot through my adult years, short and long hair... even had it straightened two and a half years Ago..I maintained that until recently... and now have decided to embrace my naturally curly hair... my daughter follows the curly girl method and she lives in NYC. She is the one who told me about it and insisted I make an effort to find out about it here in the UK... and I just stumbled on your blog... I have taken the first step.

Hey Harpreet!

Don't worry - ask away! It is really overwhelming, to begin with, I completely agree. Glad you found the post helpful! So to answer your questions, the routine is a little bit different from person to person so you may need to experiment a bit. I tend to lo-poo once every 10 days or so but I live in a hard water area and my hair is quite fine too, so you may find you don't struggle with build-up as much as I do and you may not need to lo-poo as often. Also, I tend to co-wash, then condition with a separate conditioner on my wash day, which is usually once a week - I try and leave it as long as possible in-between co-washes.

Deep conditioner is something I would do on wet hair and rinse out after like, 15 mins or so, whereas leave-in is something I'd smooth through my hair after I've washed it, and then just leave it in while my curls dry. Leave-in isn't always necessary, it depends on your hair type and also how many products your hair can deal with. Mine is fine so I need lightweight products, so tend to avoid leave-in unless I'm having a really bad/dry time of it with lots of tangles. My main advice is just to trial and error things one at a time. Start off simple with your co-wash and a gel. If you feel you need more oomph, try adding something else into the mix. I appreciate there's a lot to take in!

Let me know how you get on with it! x

Hello!

First of all, I absolutely love this: I knew I had curly (2b/2c) hair but I always thought it was just frizzy, and I only recently discovered that there was a whole world and routine dedicated to curly hair. The information was so overwhelming, but this post really helped condense it all! Especially as I live in the UK too! I'm still a little bit confused on the actual routine: Do you lo poo+ condition as usual and co-wash + deep condition once a week? Does the leave-in conditioner go in the shower, or after you've come out? What's the difference between a deep conditioner and leave-in conditioner (and is a leave-in conditioner needed if you've got hair gel and cream)?

Thank you! (Sorry for the amount of questions!)

Hi, I had a blonde head of curls as a girl which have changed to straighter then back every 7-8 years. I am now 52 and highlighted my hair for 12 years choosing to be either straight or curly on my mood. Curls diminished gradually, till I stopped highlighting a year ago. Since , they have come back and everyone is asking what I’ve done. Even my parents took some convincing they were naturally returning. Then I found CR Method last week, have done it just once and I have actual RINGLETS!!! No one believes that I have only washed and squished conditioners into it. I love it.
If I washed and left before, it was ok first day but 2nd looked awful and if I put Afro comb through it it just frizzed up. It is honestly worth every second of effort girls!

In reply to <a href="https://actualar.co.uk/the-curly-girl-method-uk-style/#comment-936">Nicola Cannell</a>.

It can be really confusing I know! I'm putting out a step by step guide to co-washing next week, but basically you need to just power through the greasy period and then start with a co-wash after a few days. It'll take a few co-washes before you'll need to clarify, so just try and grit your teeth through the first week or so because it will feel horrible before it gets better! x
